| Resiudal (The _Automotive Leasing Guide_, which is available from Chart
Software for $13.00 or so [(813) 791-4955]. Sometimes you can get this
info from other sources, for instance _Kipplingers_ listed 24 and 48
month ALG features in their 1996 Auto Buying Guide. Your library might
help, too. Note that this residual is what the banks use, not the
automakers. If the lease is factory subsidized one (known as subvented),
then the residual could be anything. Its generally NOT negotiable.
Residuals change for the different lease terms, of course, as cars rarely
age like fine wine :) |
| The Used Car Rule requires dealers to post the Buyers
Guide on all used vehicles, including automobiles, light-duty
vans, and light-duty trucks. Demonstrator cars also must have
Buyers Guides. But Buyers Guides do not have to be posted on
motorcycles and most recreational vehicles. Individuals selling
fewer than six cars a year are not required to post Buyers
Guides. |
| I just updated my popular leasing information Web site, Auto Lease
Guide, at http://www.leaseguide.com . If youre about to lease, I
think you will find the site useful. Its all free, except for a
Consumers Lease Kit that can be ordered for a fee. I dont think
youll be disappointed. |
