| After test drive the car, we felt comfortable talking to him. When we went back
to showroom we started to negotiate price with him. We proposed the price based
on our calculation but with only $100 over invoice. First he told us the price
we ask was too low because it was more than $2500 below MSRP but he could ask
his manager. When he came back he came with a price with more than $1500 than
we proposed, we decided to show him our calculation with the invoice
information and $1000 factory to dealer incentives. It showed that if you dont
tell them factory to dealer incentives information, they wont give that to you.
Then he tried very hard to convince us the information we get was not accurate
but we stood firm on those information. Eventually, he gave up on this but
tried to convince us we could not get that price anywhere. We then showed his
the some advertisement from auto-buyers club and told him we could try other
dealers and if we could not get what we wanted locally,. |
| WASHINGTON (Reuters)—Two government agencies launched a campaign Tuesday,
December 9, to tell consumers they have a right to know a lot more about
auto leasing, starting next year.
New disclosure rules take effect on Jan. 1, 1998, that will give consumers a
window on auto lease provisions, to combat confusing claims that make it
difficult or impossible to compare competing offers. |
| I just updated my popular leasing information Web site, Auto Lease
Guide, at http://www.leaseguide.com . If youre about to lease, I
think you will find the site useful. Its all free, except for a
Consumers Lease Kit that can be ordered for a fee. I dont think
youll be disappointed. |
| The Used Car Rule requires dealers to post the Buyers
Guide on all used vehicles, including automobiles, light-duty
vans, and light-duty trucks. Demonstrator cars also must have
Buyers Guides. But Buyers Guides do not have to be posted on
motorcycles and most recreational vehicles. Individuals selling
fewer than six cars a year are not required to post Buyers
Guides. |
