Consumer reports may not be perfect, but they provide good, basic info
in their articles. Who else does comparisons on 10-15 products in the
same category? |

could someone please advise me where i can find the consumer report on
minivans on the internet?
I would like to do some comparing before purcahsing a minivan.
I currently have a 95 Ford Windstar GL that has gone through 3
transmissions ( a problem on these) within a couple of months.

| I glanced at the 1999 Consumer Reports Auto Buyers Guide. They recommend
Beetle, Golf III (but mention the IV), Jetta, and Passat. They actually
have a paragraph or two at the beginning of the magazine about how VW
quality is much improved. They rated the Passat as the number one car in
its class. Rate the new beetle just behind the Civic for small cars, but
as number one for two-door hatchbacks. If I remember correctly they
recommended (with a check mark) all four VWs. Also for reliability....the
individal car chart with round circles was very good for the Golf III. The
Passat and Beetle (?) were too new. But, in another chart which ranked the
Passat class cars for reliability...the Passat was fourth!! |

Why does the LT-1 in the Z-28 get an unfavorable rating in the Consumer
Reports auto issue? I know this is not the favorite publication of
many, but over the years I have found that their ratings at least show
some tendencies.
