Im not sure if Beckett uses any of the information provided to them at all. I had a Kobe Bryant/Karl Malone Co-Signers which booked at $1200 (and still does). I reported the sale of mine to Beckett @ $750, and I know of one other person who sold his for $800. Since this was a group A auto, there just arent that many of them, but the price holds steady. So Im not convinced Beckett reports marketplace activity at all.

Ill be in the market for a new Jeep Grand Cherokee in a couple of months and was wondering if the prices Ill get using either of these programs will be better than what I could negotiate on my own. According to the information packet I picked up at Price Costco, participating dealers already have pre-determined hassle-free prices on autos for Price Costco members. Options and tax/license are not included and still have to be added to the price, and Im still eligible for rebates active at the time. It looks like the Auto-By-Tel referral program on the internet works the same way. This will be my first time buying a new automobile, so I dont have any experience dealing with car salesmen and their pressure tactics. Price guides are everywhere, you can even get Edmunds prices on any car over the Internet in two minutes, so you know exactly what your car costs the dealer no sweat. You can also get info on what a trade-ins worth, no prob. Up here (Northern Illinois), theres this auto-mall where you can call up, get their no-haggle price on a car from no-commission salespeople. If the price is right, order the car, no sweat. If not, dont. Or you can pay a couple hundred bucks or less for one of those consumer pricing places that will steer you to a dealer offering a (sometimes) good price. Again, with the price guides you can get no sweat, whats the problem? I mean, unless youre buying a specialty car. Any dealers going to service the car. Unless Im mistaken, they dont really care where you bought it.
