| Price guides are everywhere, you can even get Edmunds prices on any car
over the Internet in two minutes, so you know exactly what your car costs the
dealer no sweat. You can also get info on what a trade-ins worth, no prob.
Up here (Northern Illinois), theres this auto-mall where you can call up, get
their no-haggle price on a car from no-commission salespeople. If the price
is right, order the car, no sweat. If not, dont.
Or you can pay a couple hundred bucks or less for one of those consumer
pricing places that will steer you to a dealer offering a (sometimes) good
price. Again, with the price guides you can get no sweat, whats the problem?
I mean, unless youre buying a specialty car. Any dealers going to service
the car. Unless Im mistaken, they dont really care where you bought it. |

I have a 1975 230 which Ive been slowly restoring since I bought it six
years ago. Unfotunately, last week it was sandwiched in a stop-light
pileup! (Not excessive damage, but a bit all round.)
My insurance company is assuming theyll write it off, but hasnt
established a value. I only have (most) of my parts bills, but that
doesnt reflect the labour or resultant value of the car very well. If I
can convince them that its worth enough, maybe theyll pay to fix it
instead (or at least make it worth my while to write it off).
Does anyone have any leads on used MBs of this vintage and what theyre
valued at, or is there a source of info that would help evaluate a car
like this? I would like to give them some positive help if possible.
Thank you for any leads.
Please reply here or Email me at: lynch@sask.trlabs.ca
ps. some car details if it helps:
The 230 was a 4cyl gas, automatic, manual sun-roof, Sony CD player and
Cassette player.
